合田圭介取締役および新田尚代表取締役らの論文"Best practices for reporting throughput in biomedical research"が、科学誌「Nature Methods」オンライン版に掲載されました。
この論文では「スループット」の報告様式についての解説および提案を行っています。近年のライフサイエンスでは多量のデータを収集して解析を行う手法が広く活用されており、単位時間あたりの処理量を示すスループットという用語は広く用いられております。しかしながら、例えば情報通信などの業界ではスループットに厳格な定義が存在する一方、ライフサイエンス分野では共通の定義が存在せず、曖昧な使われ方や濫用が散見され、業界の健全な発展に支障をきたすものと懸念 されました。本論文は、遺伝子解析や細胞計測などの専門家が集まってライフサイエンス分野におけるスループットの報告様式について検討し、その結果をベストプラクティスとして提案したものです。CYBOは細胞解析のエキスパートとして、業界の健全な発展に引き続き貢献します。
The paper "Best practices for reporting throughput in biomedical research" by Keisuke Goda, Nao Nitta et al. has been published in the online edition of the scientific journal Nature Methods.
This paper describes and proposes a reporting format for "throughput." In recent years, methods for collecting and analyzing large amounts of data have been widely used in biomedical research, and the term "throughput", which indicates the amount of information per unit of time, is widely used. However, while there is a strict definition of throughput in the telecommunications industry, there is no common definition in biology and medicine, and ambiguous usage and abuse of the term have been observed, which is a concern that hinders the healthy development of the industry. In this paper, world-leading experts in the fields of cytometry, high-throughput screening, and genetics gathered to discuss the reporting format of throughput in biology and medicine.
