CYBO Scan Named a Finalist for the 2027 SPIE Prism Awards

株式会社CYBOが開発・販売する3Dスライドスキャナ「CYBO Scan」が、「SPIE Prism Awards 2027」のBiophotonic Instruments部門のファイナリストに選出されました。Prism Awardsは、光学・フォトニクス分野の国際学会SPIEが、市場に投入された革新的な光技術製品を表彰する国際的な賞です。第19回となる今回は、7部門で計21製品がファイナリストに選ばれました。
CYBO Scanは、スライド標本全体を高精細な3D画像としてデジタル化するスキャナです。独自のホールスライド・エッジ・トモグラフィー技術により、標本全体を奥行き方向に多層撮像しながら、画像データをリアルタイムに圧縮します。厚みや重なりのある試料の立体的な形態情報を取得するとともに、3D画像の活用に伴うデータ容量の課題に対応します。その用途は、細胞診標本から藻類などの微生物試料まで、多様な細胞・生物試料の観察・解析に広がっています。取得した画像は、遠隔での共有や教育、貴重な標本のアーカイブに加え、AIによる細胞の分類・計数などにも活用でき、目視による観察と定量的な解析の両面を支えます。
当社は今後も、光技術とAIを融合した製品の開発・提供を通じて、細胞や微生物の観察・解析のデジタル化と、画像データの活用を推進してまいります。
各部門の受賞製品は、2027年2月3日、米国サンフランシスコで開催されるSPIE Photonics Westの授賞式にて発表される予定です。
CYBO Scan, a 3D slide scanner developed and marketed by CYBO, has been named a finalist in the Biophotonic Instruments category of the 2027 SPIE Prism Awards. Presented by SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics, the Prism Awards recognize innovative photonics products brought to market. Now in its 19th year, the competition has selected 21 finalists across seven categories.
CYBO Scan digitizes entire slide specimens as high-resolution 3D images. Using CYBO’s proprietary whole-slide edge tomography technology, it captures images at multiple focal depths across the slide while compressing the image data in real time. This preserves the three-dimensional morphology of thick or overlapping specimens while addressing the data storage challenges associated with 3D imaging.
Applications span a wide range of cellular and biological specimens, from cytology slides to microalgae and other microorganisms. The resulting images support remote sharing, education, archiving of valuable specimens, and AI-based cell classification and counting, enabling both visual examination and quantitative analysis.
CYBO will continue to develop and deliver products that combine photonics and AI, advancing the digitization of cell and microorganism imaging and analysis and expanding the use of image data.
Winners in each category will be announced on February 3, 2027, at the awards ceremony during SPIE Photonics West in San Francisco, California.
